Minister, Activist, Politician, or All Three?

There’s thousands of ministers that wear many hats. I believe that there are very few that the Lord allows to engage in these areas in addition to their primary call by the Lord into the ministry.

Then there are others that have no business engaging in other areas and make a big mess.

In the OT, many use Daniel as an example of a prophet of God and a leading administrator in Babylon.

One of the things we have to understand is that as long as a person never compromise their personal relationship with the Lord and their call to the ministry, it shouldn’t be a problem.

The whole point is, are you in the will of God, or do you want to do your will because it’s a nice thing to do? Are you about bolstering your reputation? Or do you want to walk in humility?

For instance, Daniel received the meaning of a dream from the Lord and the associate administrators plotted against Daniel to kill him.

Obviously, the source of this plot was demonic because the interpretation of the dream had end time implications for the entire world, including the end of satan. With Daniel being a prophet that heard from the Lord, he was a perceived to be a threat by satan.

Having made this point, you have to hear from God. There’s many impostors in the pulpit that use the house of worship to further their own goals, aspirations, fame, and reputation with monetary connections.

Since we’re proceeding with great speed towards the end of the end times, you have to be obedient to the Lord with your primary call to the ministry and never look to enter a door that will diminish your effectiveness to be impartial with the Word.

Once you give yourself to entering into activism, and politics, you must compromise or be shown the door. Because if you show up like Daniel, to be impartial and give the Word of God, in most places, you will no longer be welcomed.

Daniel remained impartial and it took him to the lion’s den. But because he remained faithful to the Lord, the Lord preserved his life.

There’s a lot of believers that sit in service with clear conflicts of agendas. Their activism’s and political affiliations are crosswise of the Scriptures. For instance, there’s many believers that believe in the right to choose abortion. They call it healthcare. The question is…..

What’s healthy about killing a baby?

The response to this is that they believe that a woman have a right to decide what’s to be done with her body. But it’s not her body that was killed. The baby’s body was violently extracted from the safety of the womb to “terminate the pregnancy.”

But the pregnancy occurred during the vile sins of fornication and or adultery.

Terminating a pregnancy is just a nice way to tell a lie to cover the truth. Then pro choice proponents pivot to rape and incest. Why punish the mother with carrying a child full term? Men will never understand carrying a child because of rape and incest. But should the child be killed? Is this fair to the child? Yes, without a doubt it’s unfair to you. This should never be minimized or marginalized. It’s not easy. There’s adoption agencies and other vital life saving programs where the life of that child could be spared.

According to the CDC, 98% of abortions are done because the pregnancy was “inconvenient.” But the immoral sex was convenient? 1.7% of abortions is because of incest and 0.03% of abortions is due to a threat to the mother’s life.

So with knowing these stats, how can a person justify 98% of abortions due to inconvenience? There’s no justification. And to compromise as a “right to life” to allow abortion up to a certain trimester is a compromise on every level.

Regarding incest, the right to choose’s argument is why punish the mother with a pregnancy? False argument. The rape or incest is wicked, but equally wicked is terminating the life of the baby. What was the crime that the baby did that the child deserve to be slaughtered? Rape, incest, and murder of a baby are all wicked.

So you can’t be found compromising the Word of God in agreement with the wickedness of the world.

Regarding homosexuality. They will demand that you suspend the stand on the Bible regarding the vile sin of homosexuality. Many preachers have compromised not to share the truth but when standing with politicians, they want your presence as endorsement. Our presence with politicians is considered as endorsement of their anti Biblical positions. For you to voice your Biblical opposition is a no brainer.

You must tell them up front that you have the right to voice your position on abortion, homosexuality ( or any sexual sin for that matter), and socialists agendas that is anti Biblical. Not only do you have the right, but you voice your opposition for all to see. So that there’s no question to the world as to where you Biblically stand.

Stand for the Lord and the Lord will stand for, and with you.

When the world is against you, God, Who made the world, will stand with you.

There’s honorable activism regarding the social aspects of life, like feeding, clothing, and housing the poor, helping the homeless and the elderly. There’s plenty of non compromising programs to ensure people are assisted.

However, the limits of socialism must be expressed. Government intervention that involves the restriction or ripping away a person’s freedom has always been the goal. The government provides a service at the expense of taxpayers and you return the favor by voting them back into office so you could continue getting the service they provide.

There should be no strings attached. So be careful when you tie yourself to politics that demand a compromise on basic fundamental rights.

You see, these the things (abortion, homosexuality, anti Biblical socialism), are at the top of the list when it comes to activism and politics. To agree with these two things at the expense of the call of God on your life isn’t worth it.

You see, we all must face the Lord when we close our eyes for the final time. Will the Lord, Who called us, be pleased or will He reprimand us?

It’s up to you.

Do you want the applause of men, or the praise of God?

Coronavirus: Upon NY

The picture above was hurricane Sandy in 2012. But in NY, in 2011, homosexual marriage was signed into law by governor Cuomo …read about it here.

Many will say that this is coincidental. No connection.

Then in June 2015, the Supreme Court in the Obergefeld v Hodge case made a lower court ruling on homosexual marriage the law of the land.

Fast forward to 2019. Governor Cuomo signed into law a strengthened abortion law because they believed that when Gorsuch and Kavanaugh were seated on the Supreme Court that Roe v. Wade would be overturned. The NY state legislature applauded the passage of the bill. You can read about it here.

Now NY is the epicenter of the Coronavirus in the United States. According to the recent CDC figures, NY leads the US with total cases and deaths. The US is leading the world in new cases and is 3rd in the world with deaths. The only bright spot in NY is that it leads the nation in recovery.

Then you look back to 19 years ago with 9/11.

This is way beyond coincidental.

It would be a wonder for governor Cuomo to repent, ask the Lord for forgiveness, receive Jesus as Lord on live TV, and call on the NY legislators to reverse and abolish abortion. It would be a wonder for the justices to repent, and overturn homosexual marriage.

Some of you may remember when David numbered the people and that angered the Lord. The Lord sent an angel to kill people. It was called a plague. David said to the Lord, in 1 Chronicles 21:17 (KJV Strong’s) “And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O Lord my God, be on me, and on my father’s house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.”

And it would be good for pastors harboring sexual sins, among other sins, to repent.

This is what would stay the coronavirus, starting in NY.

When it comes to understanding the end times and events that will lead up to the end times, it’s essential not to have “tunnel vision.” What I mean by tunnel vision is that we see only what’s in front of us instead of all around us.

This is worse than tunnel vision. This is questionable doctrine. When Coronavirus first hit, the WOF (Word of faith) circle went on the “I command coronavirus to die, in Jesus name” tangent. Confession and “pleading the blood.”

The coronavirus is Matthew 24:7-8 in operation, be not deceived.

Now, there is no example of pleading the blood in Scripture in the NT. Commanding a disease to die is relatively consistent with Scripture when you’re dealing with demon power in a person’s life or rebuking a fever as Jesus did with Peter’s mother in law.

But as far as regional demonic power, we do not see Jesus operating on this level.

Regional demonic power was observed in the book of Daniel and we know that these wicked spirits in heavenly places were fighting against the angels of God. However, when Daniel was praying to the Lord, Scripture there doesn’t give us any indication of Daniel summoning angelic power to fight against demonic regional power.

Daniel prayed as normal, repenting for the sins of the people of Israel. And when it was time, the Lord, by way of a vision caused Daniel to see the angel that was sent, in each instance, at the start of Daniel’s prayer.

When we go to the NT, we see interactions with the angels of God but only when the Lord allows, not when a believer summon angelic visitations. When it comes to extra Biblical activity, go by the rule of “If it’s not in the Bible, it’s not Biblical.”

The angels of the Lord are under His command, not ours. We don’t send angels anywhere.

Hebrews 1:14 (NKJV Strong’s) “Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?

Note what this Scripture says. “…sent forth to minister….” Who sends them forth? Does a Christian? No. Look carefully at this Scripture.

Psalms 103:20 (NKJV Strong’s) “Bless the Lord, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word.”

Now with the confession crew, many believe that when we speak the Word it’s as if the Lord Himself speaks. This isn’t correct. Why isn’t this correct? They got it from Romans 4:17 (KJV Strong’s) “(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.”

Look at the latter portion of this passage……….”and calls those things which be not as though they were.” This is where the error is among them. Some believers believe that they can call those things which be not as though they were like God can.

If that were so, there’s a lot of things I wish I can call. I call my self skinny. I call myself losing weight. I call myself to no longer be 58 years of age. I call my bank account to have 10 trillion dollars in the account.

Again, look at Psalm 103:20. The angels obey the commands of the Lord, heeding His word. Not our word.

When it comes to “Blood on the door posts” this is the Passover that was celebrated in the book of Exodus. In the book of Hebrews chapter 10, the blood was sprinkled on our “hearts from an evil conscience.” And we see a reference connected to the passover.

What happened in the passover was that the Lord sent a death angel through Egypt but it also passed through the homes of the Israelis. If the blood of the lamb of an animal was placed on the door post, the death angel would “passover” that house where a firstborn is. If there’s no blood found on that doorpost and a firstborn was present, the firstborn would be killed.

When it comes to sin, the blood of Jesus cleanses us from sin. The blood of Jesus allows us access into the holies of Holies. That’s the extent and limits of the Scriptures regarding the blood of Jesus.

Remember that satan wanted to get at Job and all that he had? The Lord placed a hedge of protection about Job so that satan couldn’t get at him. The Lord lifted that hedge and satan had access to his things and his flesh, but the Lord told satan that he couldn’t kill him.

James, the brother of John was captured by Herod and beheaded. God lifted his hedge. All of the disciples, except John, died by death imposed on them by martyrdom. Millions of Christians to this hour, are martyred. Some have escaped, protected by the Lord by way of flight.

We must abstain from unsubstantiated extra Biblical statements that distract from the real intent of the Coronavirus. Of course, the virus kills, but when sin is performed by man, the Lord lifts His hand of protection, and no one can command the Lord to drop His hand until His will is done. Is it God’s will that any should perish?

Absolutely not. God doesn’t take pleasure in the death of the wicked. But when you and I have been warned, and we see death on an unimaginable scale, it should move us to repent if sin is in our lives and when we have found favor in God’s eyes through His Son, intercede on the behalf of others.

Finally, Daniel was in the land of Babylon, and he had the sense to repent in sackcloth and ashes. He prayed, knowing the reason why Israel was exiled to Babylon. Israel provoked God for years and to send a message, He removed the children of Israel.

Will we get through this? I can’t say because this episode will have globalist implications from hereon out. Remember, we are at the end of the last days. Every major event from now on will be a stepping stone to the finally.

Some of you will disagree, but be mindful that we must be ready, as Jesus commanded us. To watch and pray and not get caught with tunnel vision.

Coronavirus: Dare To Preach About Perilous Times

2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NKJV Strong’s) “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

I was alerted to a prophetic end time preaching from David Wilkerson made back in 2009. These are perilous times we’re living in. The Lord always warn people before the events come.

I’ve seen on video some of these preachings just a few years ago, right around the time that David Wilkerson was killed in an auto accident in Texas. The Body of Christ was robbed when he passed. I learned that he was a close friend of Leonard Ravenhill.

Just recently, as my wife and I were driving around in Brooklyn, we’ve noticed that Brooklyn has changed drastically. So much so that in Clinton Hill on the corner of Gates and Clinton Ave, Teen Challenge no longer exists.

Decades ago, when the gangs were running in NYC, David Wilkerson was sent by the Lord from Pennsylvania to minister to gangs in NYC. Then he was moved by God to build a church in NYC. Times Square Church came on the scene.

At the time that he shared many prophetic insights into today, he was ridiculed, and lambasted. At the time that he was ministering, the prosperity of the US had been hit. It was the warning no one wanted to hear. He shared in 2009 that something would come that would shake the nation to its core.

In 2009, this was just after the start of the worst economic disaster this nation ever had. To an extent, it recovered. But it’s not a true recovery if you carry over 18 trillion dollars of debt. Even with the economic boom during the Trump administration, this nation tacked on 5 Trillion dollars of debt. The national debt today is 23 trillion dollars.

But tack on 7 trillion dollars of emergency funds to prop up this economy before it actually collapse under the weight of current debt. If no money comes in, it’s a matter of time before this and other nations will fold forever. Read Daniel chapter 2. The everlasting kingdom must come and nothing will stop it from coming.

Then Coronavirus hits. By the middle of this month, 10 million people will be without a job. Bringing the unemployment to 9.5% from 3.5%. The economic shut down of this nation effects the whole world. This isn’t the time to share conspiracy theories.

We’ve been warned and we didn’t take heed.

The other places of worship that preached good times, your best life now, prosperity, and hyper grace, these messages have no bearing in perilous times because we see that it didn’t prevent the calamity that came on this nation.

Anyone can preach healing when your whole. Anyone can preach prosperity when you’re rich. Anyone can preach forgiveness without repentance.

Some will declare that it’s not a calamity and that we will make a comeback.

Coronavirus is a pestilence according to Matthew 24.

The threefold things that Jesus said would come to signal the beginning of sorrows is upon the world.

“Great earthquakes, famines, and pestilences.”

This nation has been shaken to its core and its only the beginning.

Four states that has some of the most restrictive laws in the nation have been hit.

New York, Washington State, and California, New Jersey, and other states, in addition to conservative states. They weren’t exempt because of the compromise of abortion in its states.

What sin did we do?

You don’t have to look far. In 2015, same sex marriage became the law of the land. Apostasy or the defection from the truth to lies is in full swing. Pastors that once stood to preach the truth grew tired of staying with the truth of the Holy Spirit and is now speaking smooth words to tickle the ears of people.

Young and old, rich and poor, saved and unsaved are affected. Some pastors are choosing to preach smooth messages instead of calling the world to repentance. But the ones that don’t have access to the masses by way of TV are calling the masses to repent.

Repent is not a popular word. It reveals that sin against God was committed. It declares that one is sorry for breaking God’s commandments. Perilous times is a signal to the world that we need God more than ever.

The word “Perilous” means to reduce the strength.

This is why we didn’t heed the warning but the warning went to the whole world that the reduction of strength is coming. The strength of America is in its economic might. But it doesn’t just mean to reduce the strength, but also it means “difficulty” or “dangerous.” These are difficult and dangerous times.

But we’ve been warned.

The leading indicators that we need to repent is in the very things that Paul, by the Spirit told us what would happen. Not just the world but also the church. The Coronavirus has affected the houses of worship.

  1. For men will be lovers of themselves,
  2. lovers of money,
  3. boasters,
  4. proud,
  5. blasphemers,
  6. disobedient to parents,
  7. unthankful,
  8. unholy,
  9. unloving,
  10. unforgiving,
  11. slanderers,
  12. without self-control,
  13. brutal,
  14. despisers of good,
  15. traitors,
  16. headstrong,
  17. haughty,
  18. lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
  19. having a form of godliness but denying its power.

IF we or anyone outside of Christ have done and is doing any of these things, we are a part of the signaling of perilous times. These are the very activities that the Lord warned us about.

Another indication is false doctrine.

We’ve seen countless false doctrine come and many haven’t recovered from it. They’ve become peddlers of these things. Case in point.

Kenneth Copeland called Coronavirus gone by March 29th 2020. We’ve seen no evidence of this taking place because more people are acquiring this disease and more people have died since he gave that statement as a “prophet of God.”

Look at Deuteronomy 18:19-22 (NKJV Strong’s) “And it shall be that whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him. But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.’ And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?’— when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.”

Some will say that this is OT, we live in the NT. This passage is the very thing that many will strike as non essential to today. But ask yourself a question.

Has what Kenneth Copeland said came to pass?

Many of you will say that he’s human, he’s allowed to miss it.

You see, that’s not the standard. God is perfect and man isn’t but if God speaks loud and clear, we’re obligated to speak what he said. Now if you want to continue to believe what he says, you’ve been warned and we’re not to give a man the benefit of the doubt.

The cry of the blood of babies aborted has cried long enough. This nation and other nations are being judged based on the end time signs just listed, and in accordance with Matthew 24.

These are the beginning of sorrows as a result of an unrepentant man and backslidden church.

We are on the verge of complete collapse. We’re watching smooth preachers not taking advantage to call the world to repentance. In fact, one man of God said that God isn’t mad at us that He loves us.

Psalms 7:11-13 (NKJV Strong’s) “God is a just judge,
And God is angry with the wicked every day.
If he does not turn back,
He will sharpen His sword;
He bends His bow and makes it ready.
He also prepares for Himself instruments of death;
He makes His arrows into fiery shafts.”

There’s many professed believers that believe in the right to choose……..death for a baby. There’s many professed believers that are currently fornicators, adulterers, bisexuals, homosexuals, sodomites, pedophiles, drunkards, extortioners, thieves, apostates.

And there’s many pastors that refuse to confront these sins in the house of worship. But now we have a chance. We have a chance to change course. That’s what repentance is about. It’s the command to compel men to change course before it’s too late.

With the collapse that we’re on the verge of, even if we were to restart the economy in the US, with 23+ trillion dollars of debt, and the heavy debt of other nations, it’s clear that the whole world is experiencing the perilous times most feared by man.

Our job as ministers is to preach to the world to repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. IF we would just fall on our faces and repent, and ask the Lord to have mercy. To ask the Lord, in wrath, remember mercy. To call upon the Lord and seek grace in His face.

The world must know that when you provoke the Lord in sin, this is the consequences.

The time for preaching smooth message will continue, but turn away from them and be found on your face in repentance before the Lord. And tune into the fact that these are the end of the end times, the beginning of sorrows. That Jesus is soon to come.

We don’t know when Jesus will return, but it’s high time to awake out of sleep and pay attention to the perilous times we’re living in.

How To Preach Funerals. Saved & Unsaved.

Over the course of your ministry, you may be called upon to preach the funerals of saved and unsaved people. You may even be called upon to preside over the entire service.

If you’ve done funerals or home-goings, then you may already know this information.

Initial Family Contact

The initial contact comes at moments we’re not prepared, but when they come, you have to say and do things to reassure the family that you’ll be there to help them through the most horrible moment in life. The death of a loved one.

Your job as a minister is to provide Biblically and spiritually compassionate service to families in their moment of death in the family.

It’s important that you provide direction, spiritual comfort, and help with handling the service. Lasting impressions are important however, you must never be asked to compromise the call of God on your life. Remember, we will render an account for everything that we do.

When initially contacting the family, make yourself available as best as possible. Pray with them, and share with them comforting Scriptures. Don’t be overbearing or longwinded. Less is more. One person once said (paraphrasing) “Our short public prayers must be a snapshot of our long private prayers.”

When a family requests your service, it’s important that you honor, as Biblically possible, their requests and wishes. As a minister of Jesus Christ, should a family member make a request that violate the Bible, you should respectfully and tactfully dishonor the request. You should give them the Biblical Scripture or Scriptures that underscores the reason why their request cannot be honored.

Some family members will get upset. It’s important to understand that they may not require your services and you have to be understanding of this. But remember, you work for the Lord Jesus to serve the people the unadulterated gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Deceased’s Spiritual Status

It’s important to get as much information regarding the deceased’s spiritual upbringing. If they’re in Christ, then you can feel confident that you can present a eulogy (speaking well of a person) that underscores their personal relationship with the Lord. It’s good to find out what their activities were, inside and outside the house of worship. Their obituary will most likely be drafted by a close family member. It’s good to glean from these, as information about them will be available.

It doesn’t hurt to ask family members what the deceased’s interests were. I’m sure they will be willing to share as much information. Should you get permission to share this information, it’s also good to mention during the eulogy by whom that information came from. It gives the family members a sense of connection during their moment of mourning.

If the deceased isn’t in Christ, you could still glean some information and share them, within reason. We must never preach sinners into heaven. It’s not right to talk about the deceased as if they’re in heaven when they may not be saved. So exercise caution. We must speak the truth in love. Less is more, so use your Spirit led judgment.

If you’re young in the ministry, it’s good to watch seasoned preachers preside over funerals and home-goings. We’ve all made mistakes so just know that you will observe some things that may be obvious errors. Just learn as much information as you can. As you officiate more of these services, somewhere along the line, you will develop a consistent repertoire that suits your ministry.

WATCH THE CLOCK

Funeral services, depending on the time of day or night, are costly. Every minute after a certain time that you’re expected to complete the service may be costly to the family. Please keep in mind that should you do a day time funeral with burial following the service, the clock is ticking. The cemetery is on a clock in terms of handling the interment of other deceased people, scheduled to be interred the same day.

Most families may not have adequate funds for burial and may opt to cremate. The body may be transported to a crematorium or they may have a crematorium on the premises if the service is conducted at the funeral home. Nonetheless, you’re still on the clock. So please be mindful of this.

Traffic may be heavy so you have to be on time with the service.

THE ALTAR CALL

These services will have family and friends that aren’t saved. It’s the best opportunity to sow the seed, which is the Word of God. Most pastors have an altar call before turning the service over to the funeral director for final instructions and final viewing of the remains.

It’s the call of the minister to have an altar call but the most important thing that could be done is that you share the gospel, repentance, forgiveness of sins, a declaration of Jesus as Lord, and instruct them to get to a local church to get water baptized, and discipled.

You could also tell them to meet you after service for further ministry if they’re too timid to approach you during the service.

COMMITTAL

In some instances, you may not be able to accompany the family to perform the interment service. The funeral director will ask you to do the committal service at the church or funeral home. For the deceased the died in Christ, the normal committal service should be performed either at the house of worship, funeral home, or gravesite.

If the deceased isn’t in Christ, you can do an abbreviated committal service because if you know that the deceased isn’t in Christ, it makes no sense to pretend that they’ve entered into heaven.

A recommended committal for the unsaved deceased…..

“We acknowledge the departure of our dear beloved (name of the deceased), we commit (his/her) body to the ground, earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust.”

And then go right into a final prayer and benediction.

Being A Blessing To People

Most ministers do services for hire. In other words, they offer their services for pay.

Some funeral homes personally hire preachers to perform services as well as organists. Families may opt to have the service performed to their liking. You get what you pay for.

But there’s nothing inconsistent with an independent minister to request “reasonable compensation” since funeral homes add to the cost funeral home associated sacerdotal services.

The Bible says in 1 Timothy 5:18 that the, “Laborer is worthy of his hire.”

The IRS calls this “reasonable compensation.”

Reasonable means consistent with what other ministers are paid for services. It’s understandable that many people frown upon this. However, if the minister doesn’t have outside income from working a legal secular job, there’s nothing wrong with accepting “reasonable compensation” for services performed.

Then there are pastors that refuse “reasonable compensation.”

It’s important not to take advantage of people because remember, the cost of the funeral is already enormous, to impose an additional financial hardship on the family will not only leave a bad taste in people’s mouths, they will blaspheme the name of the Lord.

Granted. Some ministers don’t care, we get it. But if you care in their hour of need, not to take advantage of them, you may be the one person that may steer people to become a born again believer in Christ.

The Call to the Ministry

The one thing that makes a person stand out is that they’ve heard from the Lord to enter the ministry.

Many people select ministry. Few are chosen into the ministry. The Lord Jesus is the Head of the church. He selects.

According to Ephesians 4:11, “He gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, some to be pastors, and some to be teachers.

Why?

  • To reduce intrusion into a place of ministry by people not called by Him.
  • To select people, preordained by the Lord, to fulfill His will.

In the day and hour we’re living in, we know that there’s certain individuals that the Lord didn’t call to stand among us in our ministerial ranks. They’re smooth is their diction, know how to please a crowd, and they take advantage of the unsuspecting.

Heed these words from Paul recorded in 1 Corinthians 2:4.

“And my speech and my preaching were not with enticing words of men’s wisdom but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.”

The call of God demands that you not look to please man because your assignment comes from the Lord, not man.

Paul told Timothy these words that you must live by.

2 Timothy 4:2-4 (NKJV Strong’s) “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

Today, there’s millions of false prophets, teachers, and false pastors, also known as “hirelings.” People need genuine ministers to give the Word of God regardless of what people want to hear.

In The Minister’s Crucible, we will strive to ensure that what we give new ministers is the solid sound teaching of the Word of God so you can minister to people, with confidence and with the strong convicting power of the Holy Spirit.

How To Minister During A Crisis?

Many minsters are making decisions to preach safe messages. What is a safe message?

A safe message is a message that doesn’t “ruffle” the people’s feathers. Messages that doesn’t hurt people. Messages that people want to hear.

Why do some of us do this?

  • Pastors want to minister to people to give them the sense that God isn’t angry.
  • You want people to come back.

All ministers must be very careful not to mince words or hold back the truth. Paul shared in Ephesians 4:15a “…but speaking the truth in love.” Sadly, people believe that when you speak the truth that you hate them. The Lord loves man so much, that He can’t help but to tell us the truth, even if it hurts people.

For instance, homosexuals call the preaching of the truth about their sinful lifestyle, “hate speech.” Ministers will avoid telling people that a certain sinful behavior is………sinful. For a minister to side in with people when the Word of God tells us otherwise, is gross error.

Look at Proverbs 30:6 (NKJV Strong’s) “Do not add to His words,
Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.”

Very few will share the truth regarding this current crisis.

People are looking for hope and nothing else. Why?

They’re faced with the fear of acquiring this illness and they’re concerned about the probability of death. When you’re faced with your mortality, for most people, it gets their attention.

But when you don’t give them the truth, you’re responsible. We that are called by the Lord to the ministry to serve people the Word of God. The truth, the whole truth. Nothing less. When people are faced with mortality, if we fail to tell them the truth, it hurts the heart of the Father. They could have been saved from sin, death, and hell.

But because we just wanted to avoid telling them the truth, they’re numbered with the transgressors. Let’s be quick to tell them the truth, no matter how much it hurts them.

Preaching Fire & Brimstone, Or Hope, Or Both?

Which one shall I preach?

When a person get the call to the ministry by the Lord, some of them are closer to the moment the Lord saved them from sin.

Why do the preachers preach fire and brimstone at the beginning of their ministry?

  • Usually it’s out of preaching with very high emotions and a sense of urgency.

We know that people die every day. In fact, every 24 hours, it’s estimated that 150,000+ die throughout the entire world, and enter into eternity.

To put the 150,000 in perspective, that’s 6250 persons an hour.

But where does the spirit of man go after expiration?

Notice what the Lord Jesus said in Matthew 7:13-14 (NKJV Strong’s)

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Destruction?

John 3:16 (NKJV Strong’s) “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Notice what the Lord Jesus said…..”shall not perish.” But look also at 2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV Strong’s) “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

If you haven’t noticed, it’s the combination of both that gets the job done. We must remember, we can’t condemn the world. We are sent to share the hope of the gospel, but we must also tell them the penalty for failing to obey the gospel. This is the incentive necessary to compel men to be saved.

It’s not the will of the Father that men perish. The Lord sent His Son, the Lord Jesus, to die for our sins. This is the gospel in its purest form. People are dying, not just of the coronavirus, but other diseases and the thought of death should be enough to compel us to get saved.

Proverbs 23:17-18 (NKJV Strong’s) “Do not let your heart envy sinners,
But be zealous for the fear of the Lord all the day; For surely there is a hereafter,
And your hope will not be cut off.”

If you fail to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with people, you’re negligent of the call of God on your life.

So yes, we preach both.

One cannot do without the other. People need to be warned but they also need the hope of the gospel to be saved.
