Silent Barriers To Preaching The Gospel

Matthew 10:6-8 (NKJV)

“But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as you go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

These instructions were given to the disciples of the Lord. Go and preach to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

After the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, the disciples received various final instruction. However, the most famous final instruction is found in Matthew 28:18-20.

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

We all believe that this instruction wasn’t limited to the disciples of the Lord Jesus and ended with their deaths. It is a continuing commandment until the end.

Matthew 24:12-14 (NKJV)

“And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”

Lawlessness, obviously has increased throughout the world. People are cold hearted. Heartless, and without any compassion. Governments around the world are showing how ruthless they can become. Imposing mandates, suppressing and taking away your rights and choices as a free individual.

2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NKJV)

“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!”

Evidently, these are the times that Paul warned believers about almost 2000 years ago, that’s occurring before our eyes today.

Just observe the heart and mindset of people indicated in these verses.

Romans 1:28-32 (NKJV)

“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness;

full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful;

who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.”

Cold hearted people are not even giving you an option. It’s a command without consideration of people’s plights.

People have become so vicious that if you try to talk to them about their sinful state, some of them will physically attack you.

The Lord Jesus warned us about this days.

Matthew 10:21-23 (NKJV)

“Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved. When they persecute you in this city, flee to another. For assuredly, I say to you, you will not have gone through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.”

While these additional instructions were given to His disciples then, they’re true for us today.

And this is part of the reason why believers today become silent when the opportunity presents itself to share the gospel. The volatile nature of the sinful heart will do everything in his or her power to vilify and violently attack a child of God.

All in an effort to keep you silent so that they could remain in sin peacefully.

If a person is in a burning building, a fireman climbs the ladder to save you. It would be something if that fireman handed you a lot of money and tell you that that will save you.

You will look at that fireman like they were crazy.

Money will not save you from the flames of a burning building.

But that’s what the world does. They beg you for money but they’re offering their strength to pull you out of a burning building. You don’t want the money. You need the brute strength of a fireman to rescue you from a burning flame.

Preachers. True gospel preachers are the firemen of today.

Jude 1:21-23 (NKJV)

“…keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And on some have compassion, making a distinction; but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.

But some of us, including myself, are fearful of sharing the gospel because of the volatility of people.

Also, people have a lot of arguments to keep you from exposing their heart of sin. Most don’t want to let go of their sin because they love sin (see John 3:18-21).

Sinners refuse to accept the fact that God’s wrath is without mercy. Because He demonstrated His mercy on the cross of Christ. This demonstration of love and mercy comes out of His grace to save man.

Sadly, billions of billions refused His demonstrated love and are waiting in hell for the Great White Throne Judgment. It will be there that the Lord will pass sentence on every sinner that hated Him.

And this is the compelling reason as to why we’re silent no longer, and it’s the compelling reason to go out and preach the gospel.

In hopes that they would turn (repent) and place their faith in the Lord Jesus before the eternal wrath of God comes upon them.

If you’re struggling like the rest of us to open our mouths to warn the wicked, you’re in a good club. We’re all fearful, but we some how suppress our fears to do the job we were called to do.

To warn the wicked before it’s too late.

The Minister's Crucible is designed to inform the Body of Christ about the inner workings of the ministry. The word Crucible from Latin, is "crux" where we get the word "cross" from. It also means a "metal container" where metals and other substances are melted or are subjected to higher temperatures, put to the temperature test. The Lord Jesus said "If any man desires to follow after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me." Let's take up our cross and follow Him.
