1 Corinthians 14:33 (NKJV Strong’s)
“For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.”
“How did COVID-19 get its name?
From the CDC, “The new name of this disease is coronavirus disease 2019, abbreviated as COVID-19.
In COVID-19, ‘CO’ stands for ‘corona,’ ‘VI’ for ‘virus,’ and ‘D’ for disease.”
How should pastors and ministers lead congregations in this pandemic has been a serious challenge.
We all know the official start and history of the virus, but how should we carry on at this point?
We have a responsibility to operate as commanded by the Lord but also taking into consideration many reasonable and Constitutional impositions of government to contain the problem.
Government can only do but so much. Additionally, we see that there’s a serious hypocritical approach that generated more questions than answers. And added confusion as to how we can deal with this pandemic.
However, we, as true believers, are under command of the Lord regardless of the Constitution.
The Lord remains the same and the Bible remains the same Malachi 3:6, Psalm 119:89, James 1:17 confirms this.
For instance, our political leaders imposing guidelines, directives, and rules to curb acquisition of the disease but they don’t follow their own restrictions. This only tells us that COVID isn’t as serious as they’ve expressed it to be.
Considerable proof is when protesters and rioters would flock to the streets. Our quest to go to stores, fill our cars with gas, and go on trips to other states and countries, is further proof that this isn’t as serious as it seems.
Is COVID serious? Yes, but COVID isn’t God.
Around March and April, at the height of the pandemic, the vacillating with masks, social distancing, and washing hands became the one size fits all solution but it hasn’t worked as well as expected.
Also, what’s learned is that more people are infected indoors than outdoors. Now that the winter months are coming upon us, more people in the Northern hemisphere will be headed indoors. Since September, there’s been an increase of infections and slight rise in deaths, but it demands that if it’s just COVID only deaths, then we may be seeing a smaller increase than expected.
More people with underlying conditions have been adversely affected with more fatalities.
So it’s important to address underlying conditions.
Whether indoors or outdoors, we’ve seen that masks, washing hands, and social distancing isn’t as effective as stated. Also we must consider the fact that people make choices. When governors imposed lockdown restrictions, that’s when we see a significant decease in contracting the disease.
So, again, what is a pastor to do?
Are we interested in saving lives? Absolutely.
God sent His Son to pay the price of our sins, and to save our lives. Get saved.
Well, the house of worship is the house of the Lord. People make up the church, the building only houses the worshippers.
God protects His people in His facility.
Everyone that comes isn’t a true believer.
Psalm 84:11-12 is what we should be living by, along with Psalm 91:10.
Each true believer need to be governed by the Lord and the Word of God.
We should also be living according to 2 Corinthians 5:7.
Should we open or should we close?
We will be judged if we open and we will be judged if we close.
Me, I’d rather be judged by the Lord for opening up than for closing.
Faith without works is dead. Fear, unbelief, and doubt is alive.
Did Jesus need a mask? Obviously not.
Now if you’re a new believer in the Lord, these Scriptures that are shared, you should look them up. That’s why I didn’t copy and paste. We want you to see them for yourself. Especially those that are new to the ministry. Teach people the Scriptures but also put a desire in them to search the Scriptures as recorded in Acts 17:11 and 2 Timothy 2:15.
As you minister, you must be aware that not everyone is a true believer unless you’re a small congregation and you know where people stand spiritually. But you don’t take chances. You still minister the gospel of Jesus Christ to them. Repentance and everything.
You never know who’s in a backslidden condition unless the Lord tells you, or they’ve told you, or you begin seeing signs inconsistent of a true believer.
We never know a person’s last day, including our own.
Never look down on those that are absent from service, or if they come to service with masks, gloves, and sits further from people. And don’t look down on people that doesn’t.
“According to your faith be it unto you.”
Also, should vaccines roll out, it’s up to you. Your choice. Your body. And don’t look down on people that do or don’t. God is able to keep us according to His Word. If God lied, He can’t be trusted. If you’re not walking upright, start today.
We don’t have to be confused because we have the Word of God. So let’s be governed by the Word and not by the word of the world.
