Repentance Is Not Enough?

The worst thing that a person can do is throw the Bible away and replace it with what a person think the Bible SHOULD say.

Proverbs 30:5 says “Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His Words, lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.”

Regarding White evangelicals performing “repentance,” this is about Black reparations.

In the left wing Christianity Today, we see that “Timothy Dalrymple said “repentance alone is not enough” for white evangelicals to atone for the nation’s “original sin” of racism in an op-ed for the magazine.”

Then he attempts to abuse Scripture to justify that repentance isn’t enough. Perhaps he needs a refresher course on repentance. This is just a few Scriptures on the subject of true repentance.

Matthew 4:17 Jesus said “Repent! For the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

2 Peter 3:8, Peter said “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise as some men count slackness, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

Acts 3:19 Peter said, Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.”

Acts 17:30-31 Paul said, “Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked (idols), but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man (Jesus) whom He has ordained….”

I get it that they want White people to repent for the sins of slavery, but here’s where the problem is. It’s the condition of the heart that purports slavery. You see, when we continue to label ourselves with our skin color without, we remain blinded to the need of the spirit man within.

Jesus said, “Except and man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

So a man repents of slavery and loses his soul. But now you want man to pay an enormous amount of money to prove that they’re sincere enough in their “repentance.”

James tells us that “Faith without works is dead.”

This “work” of repentance isn’t going to eradicate racism.

Why?

It’s the condition of the heart that require cleansing from the sinless blood of Jesus.

You could pay trillions of dollars to show that you’re sorry for sin, but since the condition of the heart remains the same, another episode of racism will ensue.

The cure for racism or any sin for that matter, is “…repentance from dead works and faith towards God.” And following that, John 13:34 and 1 Corinthians chapter 13.

As long as man does what Paul said, “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any OTHER gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.”

And that’s a revelation of man rejecting the answer because they’ve egregiously concluded that God’s Word doesn’t work any more. Let’s try something else they say. Without God. And another problem emerges.

Like mass shootings. Let’s take everyone’s guns away, and declare everywhere a gun free zone. Then another shooting takes place. All the legislation in the world, all of the “reparations” in the world, will NEVER completely solve the inward source of racism.

The ONLY cure that will solve the sin of racism is made available by God.

What’s the ONLY cure for man?

Matthew 4:17 and John 3:3.

The Minister's Crucible is designed to inform the Body of Christ about the inner workings of the ministry. The word Crucible from Latin, is "crux" where we get the word "cross" from. It also means a "metal container" where metals and other substances are melted or are subjected to higher temperatures, put to the temperature test. The Lord Jesus said "If any man desires to follow after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me." Let's take up our cross and follow Him.
